Too much Dora?

Bate, bate, chocolate
Bate, bate, choclate
Mix your chocolate, chocolate
Bate, bate, chocolate.

Hayden calls all chocolate "bate" which means mix in spanish thanks to Dora. (thanks to Joanna letting him watch too much tv).
He also counts in Spanish now...two, for, cinqo, seiz, nine, tent"

Good one. Like this Canadian, Italian, Swiss, German isn't confused enough.

A few things I want to remember so just bare with my lists.
bubba: means please
Ta: thank you
Juuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuice is always juuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuice. never just, juice.
ma: is milk
tees: is trees (with a lisp)
Tent: is ten
Up is down and down is up
Chin chin: cheers
Booooooots (Is Dora, her sidekick is named Boots). But never just boots. It's Booooooooots
The little accents kids have at this age is just too cute.  So many words to even try to list but these ones make me laugh.

Side note: I pulled Hayden today from day care completely. No more full time for this kid, he's with me now! With less than a year left with these guys, I'm happy to have him home! (I'm sure I'll be eating my words at some point!)

Discipline or hypocrit?

With the recent ( and seems to be on- going) colds Hayden has been fighting,  he certainly has his moments of irritation. As much as I do get it, I also won't tolerate "brat like" behaviour such as hitting mommy when he doesn't get his way.

I have yet to try the "time out's" as I just can't see that reason will work on a 19 month old, so what do I do? Hayden hits me, I hit him back...harder.

Before you all gasp over this post please know that I mean a slap on the hand.

But my question does remain...Is an eye for an eye the correct form of punishment?  Am I teaching Hayden "You can't hit, but mommy can?".

Needless to say, it does work.

We do spend a great deal of our youth confused so maybe, just possibly this is a right of passage.

We confuse our kids to help them figure it out.

In the words of Janis Joplin

"Come on and cry, cry baby cry baby, cry baby"

That's myyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy Hayden! I think I'm officially loosing my mind. I documented how many times my child cries in a day.  Keep in mind I see Hayden for 2-3hrs in the morning (if he decides to get up at 5:00) and sadly only 1.5 in the evening.

Anyway, here is how today went.

5:15 -5:30: Wake up cry baby cry
5:17: Marcus puts Hayden down cry baby cry
5:25: Hayden wants his cup cry baby cry
5:35: Lui tries to take Haydens food (or shall I say walks into the room) cry baby cry
5:50: Change his bum cry baby cry

a spell of silence

8:00am: Putting on his shoes cry baby cry
8:02am: Putting on his coat cry baby cry

a day of silence (in my house at least)

5:35: Change his bum cry baby cry
6:05: Wants down from chair cry baby cry
6:40: In the tub cry baby cry
6:55: Diaper on cry baby cry
7:15: Book time over door shuts: cry baby cry.

All that noise, whining and crying and one "mama" with a smile when he sees me trumps it all.

go figure.

breast milk, fatigue, bunny cup and the heart of life

Long stories cut short and away we go....
1) Hayden gets a strange eye "situation" going on (oozy eye) so I squirt breast milk into it -that's right (bc it seem to cure everything else) and over night its' better. I just want to run around now and heal the world! Scraped knee? - breast milk, sore throar? - breast milk, peeling wall paper? breast milk.

2) So I'm sitting in between my two babies tonight feeding hayden sweet potatoes on one side and rubbing Alex's sore tummy on the other side. Things are going smooth until I realize I tried to serve Alex the sweet potatoes. If it wasn't for the look on his face like I served him poop on a spoon I would have continued. I would like to thank the sleepless night, the night before for that one.

3) As I type this I'm sipping a lovely and full bodied wine on this chilling eveing...out of a bunny cup because it was the first glass I could find after a long day.

"The heart of life" is my new favorite song. I sing it to Alex as I rock him through his little tummy aches.
Makes me smile "love turns the whole thing around, knowing it would all go the way it should, I know the heart of life is good"

Progress and Problem

FINALLY, Alex has established a bed time..wooooowhoooooooooooo!
This was last night:
8:30pm - sleep
2:30am - eat
5:30am - wake (and dozed on and off until 6:30)

I slept 6hrs IN A ROW. I haven't done that in over two months. I was wide awake at 2:30am wondering how the heck I was going to fall back asleep.

So that was my progress, now here is my problem.
Hayden hits.
He hits Lui if he thinks he's going to steel his food and now he has started hitting Marcus and I if we don't understand what he's trying to say. I HATE BRATTY KIDS THAT HIT!!!!!!!!!! and now I have one.
We have slapped his hands, squeezed his hands, ignored him, yelled at him and nothing seems to be making any progress. I'm guessing persistance and consistancy is the key but I would love a little advice if anyone has any!?

Venting

I'm just venting today because I'm sure everyone around me is sick of listening to me complain.
I'm just so bothered by Hayden and his anxiety when it comes to being separated from me!
On the one hand, I'm so happy him and I have such a strong bond but on the other hand it's heartbreaking to live through.

Now, what 8 weeks back to work and he still cries EVERY morning. Every morning I drive to work feeling terrible and occasionally have a cry myself and then left to think about it all day.

This past weekend we visited Oma and Nono and Hayden thought I was going to leave him there and flipped out! I then tried putting him down for a nap and he screamed in a way that I have never heard before.

What do I do? No, seriously! What do I do? I have to work but this is ridiculous.

Now, on the up side I'm told he does settle down once I'm gone and has a good day (well that's when he's not catching yet another cold from some dirty child spreading germs all over him). ahem... can you tell I have issues????

AND... with all this being said, he is starting to become... how should I put this... "bitchy!". Can a mom say that about her child? Well I just did. I'm seven months pregnant and I just did. Love him but he had developed this attitude and voice in the last month and seems to protest whenever he can. Don't get me going on that chapter bc those who follow this will find me very scary.

Is this normal? Am I normal?

On the flip side of news, he no longer yells at me for putting him to bed. That phase came and went after a few weeks thank god.

Whoever said this mom thing was easy?

Ladies, the first 11 months were a picnic compared to this new challenge. However, he is 1 and I am 32..

I will win this battle!!!
