Time long past

In a few hours the present will be past and a new year to being. Another new beggining, new plan, new ideas, new hopes, new wishes, new challenges await us all. An exciting thought when you really think about it.  A chance for us to get back on track to living the life we really want by quitting bad habits and starting new adventures.

It was REALLY hard for me to choose what to do tonight with all of my freedom, options and babysitting offers ( ha ha) but we decided to forgo the glow sticks and rave this year and stay home and fall asleep on the couch in our pjs. MUCH more exciting. If I'm not drooling on the couch by midnight it will be a flipping miracle.

Anyway, good bye 2009.... it has been quite the year.

The last week has been interesting. Lots of visits with friends, family and a VERY special visit from tonsillitis.

Christmas eve was hosted by us this year. Frank, Claire and Adrian came for dinner and Marcus cooked (surprise surprise).

Christmas moring we were up at the crack o' dawn with the babies (5:30am) to open gifts. The morning was off to a good start until all of a sudden Hayden started to go down hill fast.

That afternoon we were off to my parents house to have Christmas with my whole family this year (Alex and Cesar in town with the kids). Hayden would just not settle down and just as fast as we arrived, we left with un-opened gifts and all.

Boxing day Hayden and I decided it would be lovely to hang out in emergency to check out his shortness of breath, high fever and bad cough.  Five hours of good times was had by all.  We were sent home with the diganosis of  "just a bad cold".

Two days later the fever was still going strong so back to Emerency we went for some more good times. This time the "Dr" said he had tonsillitis.

Here we are on Dec 31 with somewhat of an improvement but still not a happy kid.  Fingers crossed to a good start to his new beggining this year.

Happy New Year to all. Here's to making this year, one you'll re-live in memory many years to come.

Fa la la la thank god

Alex slept from 12:30 until 5:30ish this morning. It would have been longer if Hayden didn't let the house know that he was awake.  I wish I could program the little suckers to sleep and wake and speak and eat and poop when I said so.

Last week I mingled with some moms that I didn't know just to get out of the house and meet some new friends.  The first person I spoke with talked about how she gave birth naturally at home and how beautiful it was. How her hubby caught the baby and how they all just fell asleep after.

Did her and I give birth the same way? Because last time I checked it was painful, messy and I needed a Dr. and drugs.

her and I can't be friends.

Yesterday  poor little sick Hayden and I baked Christmas cookies. When I say baked I mean bought a kit with pre-made cookies. All we had to do was decorate (which was supplied in the kit as well).

some pics.

Go figure

I bounce and rock ALL day long with Alex (and night) and lift and swing and play with Hayden when I'm not bouncing yet  I still seem to have flabby arms.  Why? Whhhhhhhhyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy?

AND with this constant movement you would think my ass would be smaller. (no, drive by cookie gobbling should not factor in because i don't have time to make anything else to eat).

shut up.

So it only took 3 days...

Tree decorating is done!  I sat admiring the tree in the dark this evening and couldn't help laughing to myself. Take a look at the picture below, my tree screams children live in this home.  No ornaments in Haydens reach and hidden in the midst of the traditional gold and red balls...a cookie monster. Pretty fitting to life now.  There are many "cookie monsters" hidden in the midst of what used to be life before baby.  Sippy cups lined up beside our wine glasses, another cute reminder.

Today a girlfriend came by with her five month old.  An old friend with lots to catch up on... She was from life before baby and someone like myself who enjoys to dance.  Well today we danced, but this time with our little cookie monsters in our arms working through teething pains and missed naps together.  I think thats half the key to this mom gig. Join forces and dance your troubles away!

Tree decorating...

We set out to do things these days and just assume we won't finish them, get there what have you.  What once was easy is now a production so knowing this makes our lack of getting things done and seeing them through, tolerable.

This weekend we started to decorate the tree but between stopping Hayden from eating the lights, to meals and rocking Alex to sleep things took longer than we thought.  I'll finish the tree today, or at least I plan too!

Dish full of sinks

"Now we've got a show" Marcus says to me this morning at some god awful hour as both kids are screaming, a dirty kitchen with a "dish full of sinks" (as marcus says, clearly half awake) and to top if all off
Lui barfs all over the floor.  All we could do was look at each other and laugh.  Still laughing now.
Between "dish full of sinks" and luis barf I wish we had video sometimes to document this stuff.

I've got a random thought on the side as well.  Why is it that the slightest creek of a floor board will wake both my kids yet they will each sleep through each others glass shattering screams. hmmmmm

Marcus and I figured out this weekend after my blog about what a cry baby Hayden is, is that he's going through a growth spurt and he needs to eat and sleep more than usual.  We tested this theory yesterday and I have never seen that kid in a better mood. Nothing, I mean nothing got to him. hmmmmmm

In the words of Janis Joplin

"Come on and cry, cry baby cry baby, cry baby"

That's myyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy Hayden! I think I'm officially loosing my mind. I documented how many times my child cries in a day.  Keep in mind I see Hayden for 2-3hrs in the morning (if he decides to get up at 5:00) and sadly only 1.5 in the evening.

Anyway, here is how today went.

5:15 -5:30: Wake up cry baby cry
5:17: Marcus puts Hayden down cry baby cry
5:25: Hayden wants his cup cry baby cry
5:35: Lui tries to take Haydens food (or shall I say walks into the room) cry baby cry
5:50: Change his bum cry baby cry

a spell of silence

8:00am: Putting on his shoes cry baby cry
8:02am: Putting on his coat cry baby cry

a day of silence (in my house at least)

5:35: Change his bum cry baby cry
6:05: Wants down from chair cry baby cry
6:40: In the tub cry baby cry
6:55: Diaper on cry baby cry
7:15: Book time over door shuts: cry baby cry.

All that noise, whining and crying and one "mama" with a smile when he sees me trumps it all.

go figure.

5:00am

For the last few weeks Hayden has been getting up at 5:00am.
ARE YOU JOKING ME??????
Why are they trying to kill me? why?
Anyone have any idea why? What i can do?
Hes not up and playing nice in his crib, hes up and screaming for us.
He's lucky hes cute
