So Marcus and I are sitting on the couch last night and notice at the same time that "Iggle Piggle"gives us the creeps. For those who don't know, Iggle Piggle is a character from the (in my opinion acid trip inspired) show "In the night garden".
Anyway, Iggle Piggle is this creepy looking character which is sitting on a shelf in our basement staring us right in the eyes on a daily basis
So here is where we need to get out a little more...
The two of us start talking about what we would do if Iggle Piggle got up and walked across the room towards us. My first reaction would be to run (even though he is a foot tall). A stuffed toy is walking across the room towards me...I'm not going to assume he's friendly. Marcus says, he would first "give him the benefit of the doubt" but if he then sensed he was a threat he would "snap his neck".
LMAO.
Wow.....are you as worried about us as I am?

Ever notice?
Ever notice when you burp a baby there is always one small to medium size burp and then within a few seconds a second big monster one follows? lol why is that? I don't burp in twos.
This just happens to be top of mind as I was just burping Alex. I always think I'm in the clear when I duck away from the first burp but he always seems to get me with second burp 2 cm from my nose. Why do I always forget?
mmmmmmmm baby burps before breakfast.

Healthy cooking...why bother?
Why do I bother cooking a healthy salmon and salad dinner tonight when I chase it five minutes later with a shot of tequilla and a rolo ice cream cone. (did I REALLY just admit that?)
I know.. shameful. (and yes I do realize it's Monday and really, who does shots of tequilla unless it's spring break in Mexico).
I think I just need the comfort! In fact, I know I need the comfort after such a hard month with the kids.
The other day I called a public health nurse and said that I would like to "cash in" on my visit with a nurse now, seeing I never took advantage of the service when either of the boys were born. All the nurse said to me was "are you ok? is everything ok?" as I watched Hayden pant, and I broke down and cried. I sobbed like a baby for a good five minutes while this angel of a voice comforted me on the other end. I explained to her my worry about the boys, their illnesses, the trips to the hospital the lack of sleep etc all a while knowing that this is the reality of motherhood and feeling like a real baby, jerk, wimp, failure etc.
She gave me a little lecture about the importance of taking care of myself first and doing whatever I can to catch up on my sleep, take my vitamins and eat healthy (hence my attempt above).
Can I just say how i love that stranger on the other end? LOVE HER! I want her to come by and see me every week. If I make it interesting enough maybe she'll just want to pop by on her own?!! She can examine the boys, listen to my sob stories and tell me how everything is fine. I'll rent us movies, plan day trips, oh how I want her to be my new bff.
So tonight I took her advice and took care of myself (with chocolate and alcohol).
baby steps.

tears, poops, deep thoughts, looking up
So it's early this morning and the boys and I are watching some cartoon on treehouse. "Miss Spiders..something or other. Anyway, I was saying the other day that I couldn't cry but low and behold this silly cartoon made me cry! lol
It was an episode about how a parent thought they weren't doing a good job and only they had problems with their kids. Do you think the creators of this cartoon wrote this episode for the parents? Or possibly something based on their own life? hmmmmmmmmm.
Anyway, all it took was one line and hello water works. "All you have to do is love your children and the rest will fall into place". Yup that did it!
But nice to know the tears are back baby.
PS Alex FINALLY pooped after four days and is sleeping like a baby (can you use that line when you're talking about a baby?) anyway, sound asleep after a night of pushing, crying and gas. I'm just so excited to have a moment to myself I don't know what to do!
yippy.... things always start to look up just when you're about to break. ever notice that in general. sort of a a rule of thumb in life i find.
anyway, that's as deep as i'm going this morning.

Kicking ass
Don't let my title fool you. I am not the one doing the ass kicking but the one receiving.
Alex is kicking my ass. Some days Hayden kicks my ass. I guess my only saving grace is that
the two of them have yet to kick my ass together. I wonder if they meet and disguss which weeks
they each get to KICK MY ASS.
Alex has a cold, Alex can't poop, Alex will not let me put him down. He is yelling at me as I type this.
Ding Ding Ding round 6 of getting my ass kicked has just started again.

1 month into the eye of the storm

Baby in one arm so this will be brief but bold. :)
Alex....
Has a cold
eats every 1.5hrs
Will only sleep ON ME
is gaining weight
smiled today
hates the soother
not a fan of the bottle
cries more than hayden did
is a gentle soul
Looks like a biafore
Hayden...
Has a cold
likes to wrestle
likes to protest
needs constant stimulation
starting to talk and really communicate
likes to run
climbs the stairs
enjoys his books
eats like a pig
likes to dance
sleeps 11 hrs
Joanna...
Has a cold
doesnt know what day it is
Marcus...
No cold..
Also not sure what day it is.
Lui...
No cold..
Knows hes not the baby anymore and has joined forces with Hayden (go figure - after
ignoring him for a year).
I heard a line yesterday which made me smile. In the midst of the chaos you have to exercise the utmost patience and understanding. "Children make you a better you".

vini vidi vici
At 3:06am little Alex, Alexander, Alejandro (depending on your mood) came into this world, sorry sauntered into this world like he was making a cool calm and collected entrance to a party.
When the Dr. said to me in a tone similar to asking a stranger for directions "do you want to push now or later" you know you're going to have an easy delivery.
However, let's rewind five hrs....
4:30pm walking down the boardwalk "Marcus I'm having falsies again"
7:00pm "Marcus I'm having falsies that are not consistent and seem stronger"
10:00pm "Marcus I think I'm having a contraction, let's call my mom
10:45pm : "Marcus driver FASTER"
11:00pm: "Where is my Epidural"
12:00am: (head spinning like the little girl in the exorcist"
1:00am: "I love drugs"
2:30am "Joanna we have to break your water, it will be a few hrs to go from here"
2:50am (20 min later) "Do you want to push now or later"
3:00am (Push)
3:06am (I sit up and ask) "can you see him?" and out he came.
Once again ladies.... drugs is all I have to say. Another enjoyable delivery even easier than the first go around.
Day one I sit here enjoying a plate of pasta as the prince sleeps. The king Hayden is also in bed and doesn't seem to have a thought either way about his new little brother. Suddenly he looks like a giant to me!
I'll check back soon with I'm sure a very different kind of post. We all know what happens to these perfect little creatures come oh let's say... six weeks from now!
Today I'll enjoy the calm before the storm.
Thank you Marcus for another little gift.

Out numbered
Well, well, well... today was interesting. I guess the best way to describe it actually, is comical.
Now it was just HILARIOUS to learn that I was preggers again...so soon, but after learning that Hayden is going to have a little brother I have to say it takes the cake. What's so funny? Me in a house full of boys, that's what's so funny. Even little lui is a boy. I must say that, I am quite happy for Hayden to have a little buddy. Hockey rinks and soccer fields here I come....
I can't wait to meet you now #2! Please don't make me as fat as your brother did. xox

Hayden Hayden Hayden
Now that we are rapidly approaching Hayden's first birthday I have really gotten to know him and his funny little personality.
Hayden:
Smart
Stubborn
Gets bored easily
Likes to do it himself
Likes to be served
Enjoys his sleep
Enjoys attention
Loves the ladies
Loves cheerios
Hates cheddar cheese
Is strong
Is a real little boy
Happy
Complains easy
Not a crier
Likes his own voice
Loves Lui
Giggles easy
Likes to impress
Doesn't like to be smothered
Likes to be smothered
Doesn't like it when I leave the room (or daddy)
Likes to be where the action is
Likes to eat
Likes to be changed
Loves to be naked
Loves the bath
Loves Elmo, in the night garden and baby einstein
Says Da da, Ma ma, and can make a number of funny noises
Likes walks in the stroller (used to hate it)
Gets bored in the car
Loves the jolly jumper
Fake coughs for attention
Throws his bottle when he's done with it (just like how i used to).
#2.... Well all the number two has taught me at 4 months prego is that he/she does not like
Pizza. I find this funny because this is usually my favorite food. #2 made me feel very sick (but no pukes), very sleepy and craves more sweets. I think #2 is a girl... a few more weeks and we will know!
We love you both! xox

I'd be lying
I'd be lying if I pretended like there were not hard days and everything was perfect! It would make me look like super mama but really....who are we kidding. Up until Hayden I had never changed a dirty diaper!
Anyway...The last few days have been less than perfect! The little man has a cold, the little man is going through a growth spurt and my little man has bad gas. All this adds up to one big old party!
He was up basically for two days and two nights straight..with me right along side of him and Marcus coming up the rear. We bounced, we danced, we sang, we fed, we fed we fed, we held, we rocked, we cuddled, we swaddled etc etc. We took him into the shower and tried to steam his cold out. We used drops, suctioned mucous from his nose, rubbed his tummy etc etc.
Now today all of a sudden (after a HUGE baby poop.....sorry I am being honest here remember!) He is a different baby! He's laughing, hes smiling he's lovely! He let me make lunch, he let me eat! Hurray he let me use the toilet! (sorry, too much information).
As I type this hes sitting here in the swing watching a coldplay concert on tv. Yes, Yes I know exposing him to TV already. Cut me some slack, hes quiet for the moment!
Must run...lunch time and he calls!

An excitng week!
Well this has been QUITE the EXCITING week for big H. Not only was he a super model he established a somewhat consistent night time routine and gained some weight!
Tuesday was a big day for mommy and baby. With the help of Mom I was able to brush my hair for the first time in a month (so not kidding) and get myself dressed for our photo shoot for Black's (they were in a need of a family pic for one of their stores). So we packed ourselves up and drove out to Woodbridge. Hayden worked the camera like a pro... As a result we got a few really cute pics!

Yesterday after a visit with Oma and Nono we drove out to the Drs for a follow up apt. Last week I was asked to put Hayden on formula 4 x a day after feedings. Why? because hes a little piggy and he wasn't gaining weight fast enough. Well...in one week he went from 8lbs 5oz to 9lbs 10oz! It's working!
Last night we decided to try the crib out now that his little belly is full of food now... Well....
He loved it! Ladies and Gents PROGRESS!
He loved it! Ladies and Gents PROGRESS!
I put him down at 10:00 and he slept until 12:00
Then down at 1:00 and slept until 3:30
Then down at 4:30 and slept until 6:30
After that we had play time on the mat (which is basically me dancing around him trying to make him laugh with a little tummy time thrown in).
Now I just put him down for his 8:30 nap. He didn't eat as much as I had hoped so this nap will prob be a short one...in fact I hear him now! Darn!
Wow! the things that get me excited these days!
SCARRRRRRRRRRRYYYYYYYYYYYYY
P.S Marcus is now a pro at dancing Hayden to sleep. Check out the video!
