TT's
Poor little H has been "sick" this past week. I thought at first that he had caught a cold from one of his little friends, but I'm starting to think it's just a tooth coming in. Poor guy... it's been a rough week for him. I tried to get in there this morning to check around and I think I felt a tooth coming but Hayden won't let me get a good look! He can be a real pain sometimes! Stay tuned...

Li'l piece of history...
Today Hayden and I watched the inauguration of Barack Obama.
A little piece of history I was proud to witness and happy Hayden was around for it!
I realize he did not understand a thing, but one day he will look back and read this and know
that he was around for the inauguration of the first black president. Baby steps, but the world
has come so far....

Christmas and New Years!
Well....
Another Christmas and New Years has come and gone.

Lot's of running around, lots of visiting,

lot's for food and lots of wine! Christmas Eve was spent at home with a little bailies, christmas carols and visitors. Christa, Jamie and Adrian all stopped by for a visit!

Christmas day the three of us (and lui of course) all headed over to my parents house for dinner. Frank, Claire and Adrian joined us this year for a combined family Christmas. We stayed the night and little Hayden was such a good boy! Poor little Isabella came down with a nasty cold so unfortunately Alex and Cesar and the babies couldn't make it from Chicago this year. I think it all worked out for the best though... there were a few nasty storms so the drive would have been miserable and dangerous. I think Alex attempted her first turkey, I wonder how it went!

We spent the week taking day trips here and there just to get out of the house. New Years was spent up at the cottage with Christa, Jamie, Julie and Eric and Sandy. It was pretty quiet but good to be away. I wasn't feeling too hot so I basically said "Happy New Year" and headed straight for the sack. Another year gone by and another new and exciting one begins....
Here's to the adventures of 2008 and here is to what's to come in 2009. Happy New Year!

Happy Anniversary!
Well...

This past weekend was one never to forget. Marcus and I decided it was time for him and I to enjoy some time together for our anniversary so we ran away to beautiful Quebec City for the weekend.
Oma and Nono were kind enough to come and stay at our place to watch our little man for two days. Now... in theory this was a fantastic idea, easy as pie.
But pulling away from our home in the cabby Friday morning, mommy broke down and cried all the way to the airport! Now I find it quite funny, but at the time I felt like the worst mother in the world.

We flew out on Porter airlines from the Island (fantastic airport!) and landed in snow covered Quebec City just over an hr later. Upon arrival we enjoyed a bottle (yes a bottle) of Champagne and some chocolate dipped strawberries. Needless to say the alcohol took the "edge" off and I slowly begun to feel better about leaving Hayden. We spent the afternoon walking around in old Quebec and then stopping for a late lunch in an adorable little pub with a wood burning fire place. The streets were lit up with Christmas trees and twinkle lights and for a that small moment in time we forgot we were in Canada.

That night we enjoyed tapas at a Spanish restaurant close by and talked each others ear off until the wee hrs of the morning. We had six months of dialogue to catch up on!

I woke through the night as I would if I were at home to attend to Hayden but still had a great sleep. The next morning we grabbed lunch at the hotel (Chateau Frontenac) and were off for a day of walking and Christmas shopping.
Before I go on about the day I must comment on the beautiful hotel. Situated up on a hill covered in snow and lit up with Christmas lights this hotel was something straight out of a fairytale.
Sat was FREEEEEEEZING so we didn't spend too much time outside. After a stop in a huge toy store for the babies we headed back to the hotel. Later that afternoon we enjoyed a couples massage and relaxed in the room before dinner.

That night we had a dinner at a fantastic steak house in the old train station and once again talked each others ear off.
I slept through the night this time.... still missing Hayden, but I slept!
The next day we walked along the board walk, took some pics and said good bye to Quebec!
As our cabby pulled up to our home I couldn't get out of the car and into the house fast enough to grab my little man for a great big baby hug and kiss.
As I knew, Oma and Nono were happy to report the weekend was fantastic. They enjoyed the company of Hayden and Hayden enjoyed starring at someone else than mommy. Big hugs and kisses to them!

It's 6:03am...VERY EXCITING!
Marcus and I are VERY excited this morning. Hayden went to bed at 6:00pm last night and woke up at 5:00am this morning! BUT.... he amused himself until 5:45 in his crib on his own. I was so excited all night that I however, did not sleep.

Firsts...
This week Hayden experienced a few "Firsts"
He started eating solids for a first time, used his exisaucer and he saw his first snow fall.
This got me thinking about all of the firsts hes going to experience and how lucky we are that "firsts" never really stop for us no matter how old we get. Hayden was our first child, a first cousin, grandson and nephew. Marcus and I are going to Quebec City for our anniversary in Dec for the first time and every new year is the first we have seen of it. I remember the first time I walked, the first time I saw Katharine and the first time I thought I heard Santa on our roof. Life can be exciting no matter what age we are if we re-appreciate our firsts like we did when we were children. Deep thoughts by Joanna at 8:00am!

Random Thoughts...
Is it wrong that I am now against the mom group? After all I said about understanding why mom's needing to get out, I no longer want to get out. Reason being, Hayden generally naps during the group and I don't have the heart to wake him. I've received multiple suggestions to just wake him anyway but it's just not me. Happy baby means happy mommy. Unhappy baby, means unhappy mommy. Pretty simple logic to get, not sure why I'm getting so much slack?
I think I may be more of a loner than I thought. I enjoy socializing, don't get me wrong but not to the point where it's going to make my son miserable. So once again, my mind has changed about something else..... and we continue to learn.
I forget what it's like to sleep through the night. I literally have no idea what it's like to lie down, sleep and wake up for the day... strange concept. Things are progressing at a rapidly fast pace though! Nap time is like night and day. He pretty much can put himself to sleep now, which is great! We are still doing one night feeding with a few random night stirs here and there. He wakes for the day at 5:30 still which is just not sitting well. Come on kid... give me 6:00...6:00!
All of my boys are sleeping right now here on a rainy Saturday afternoon. Maybe I should join them!

Happy Halloween!

Halloween was unseasonably warm this year! With plans to sit on our porch anyway (so the trick or treeters didn't wake Hayden from sleepy land with every knock), we were pleasantly surprised to enjoy a nice evening! The entire street was outside sitting out like us or walking up and down with their kids. A little red wine and chocolate never hurt to make the evening even that much more fun! Ha Ha.

I dressed up like a Venice Carnival attendee (wearing part of my wedding dress and all) and Marcus had on the Jason mask. Hayden was a bear for about .3 seconds before he grew hot and demanded we take it off...just enough time to grab a picture.
The next day we packed up and enjoyed the rest of the weekend at the cottage with some friends. Here are some pics!

Breaking News
We have a rolling baby. Back to front, front to back....hes practically running.
Things I don't want to forget at 4 months so just go with it:
Favorite Song: Frera Jackra
Eyes: Still blue
Hair: light brown
Bedtime: 6:30
Night feeding: 2:00am
Wake up: 6:00am
Naps every two hrs (average 4 naps a day)
Hayden is such a happy baby and he's getting really funny. Marcus can really get him laughing but hes more sucky with me (maybe I'm just not funny).
The other day I could tell his little teeth were bothering him so I laid him down on the ground and started to dance for him. Well..I don't know what happened but something came over me and it turned into a full on freaky combo Kevin Bacon/Flash Dance dance routine. I was running up and down the halls singing dancing while poor Hayden lied there watching me stunned! I did get his mind off of his teeth though....I think I dislocated my hip.
Friday night I headed to the cottage with my mom and 12 women for a girls weekend at the cottage. Would you believe I actually cried before I left!!! Hilarious! I was sad to leave my little guy. I was gone less than 24hrs! I knew Marcus had it all under control yet still had a really hard time going. With that said, I'm glad I did go though. My two guys needed some alone time without me watching.

schedule shmedule
So we have been on a fantastic schedule (and understanding) for two months now!
Two 30 min naps in the morning and two 30 min naps in the afternoon...bed by 6:30ish.
The last few days he napping longer and yesterday he gave up this 2nd afternoon nap, which made bed time a HUGE pain. (still in bed by 7:15) but it through me right off. So does this mean he doesn't need to sleep every 2hrs like he did in the past? (even though he seemed dead tired yesterday as he fought his nap). I don't get it, He's been sleeping 2hrs AND now hes sleeping through his 12:00pm feeding.
Just when I think I have him all figured out....
