8 month Craving gone wrong

So all I want are sour patch kids. craving, dying for them and cant get my mind off of them

So dig into my wallet, count my change and i have exactly $1 in change to get my sour patch... yesssss

So I go to the machine and see there are no sour patch kids but there are mike and ikes, that will do.

I punch in the code and down drops a Turkish delight. Ahhhh i put in the wrong code! Not a kit kat or crispy crunch but a TURKISH DELIGHT.

So I'm standing there almost about to cry (thats right, cry) because now im out my last $1 on me and no mike and ikes. Then i scan the room and notice a change bowl for coffee so i run over, throw the Turkish delight in the change bowl and grab $1.

I go back to the vending machine, grab my mike and ikes and shovel them in like I haven't eaten in days.

Now I sit here feeling unsatisfied because at the end of the day all I wanted was sour patch and now I can't stop thinking about the turkish delight in the kitchen that I don't even like.

the end

Professional Decision Maker

I've decided that I want to hire a professional decision maker. I'm tired of making any decisions for me, Hayden, our family, etc and wondering if I made the right choice. I think I would like to put the responsibility of wondering and researching on someone elses shoulders. How nice would that be? You would never ho and hum between vitamin brands, job opportunities, what to wear in the morning, what to eat etc etc etc.
Love it! I wonder if I can find one on craigslist.

Walking Baby!

Ok... I only was able to catch the last few steps on tape but at least it's something!
He was so proud of himself, cheering and waving his arms.  He could hardly believe he was doing it as well,  walking slowing and looking down at his feet.  Must be so exciting to learn something new every day.

Little Old Ladies

I just have to say that I love little old ladies. More importantly... Little Old ladies with accents. It doesn't matter what kind of accent, but an accent none the less. Reason being? They are the only people that a) can predict just by looking at me that I'm having a boy and b) are actually thrilled when they find out how close in age the two boys will be. "Oh how wonderful sweetheart" was the line I received this morning. "I see you are having another boy" As I carried Hayden into day care I was stopped on the street by these two little ladies walking arm in arm, probably just going for a morning stroll.
There is a wisdom about these little old ladies (with accents) and why wouldn't there be? Years of experience hidden behind those eyes.

A few simple and kind comments from a stranger can do wonders! Maybe I'll take the day off of work and track those two ladies down. I'm sure they have a thing or two they could teach me and god knows I'm willing to learn!

Random Deep thought

OK,
I have come to the conclusion that our soul purpose of parenting (besides food, shelter and love) is to stop our children from making a series of stupid decisions in life which could lead to them hurting themselves in the end.

For example:
Putting your finger in a light socket... stupid decision
Eating dog poop... stupid decision
Setting your hair on fire... stupid decision
Marrying a hooker... stupid decision.

I guess it becomes tricky as the babies grow and options become more complicated. My question being... how long is it acceptable for me to assume I know what's best?

Until I die? That's what I thought!

These words sum it up!

To both of my babies...

May the good lord be with you
Down every road you roam
And may sunshine and happiness
Surround you when youre far from home

And may you grow to be proud
Dignified and true
And do unto others
As youd have done to you
Be courageous and be brave
And in my heart youll always stay
Forever young.

May good fortune be with you
May your guiding light be strong
Build a stairway to heaven
With a prince or a vagabond

And may you never love in vain
And in my heart you will remain
Forever young.

And when you finally fly away
Ill be hoping that I served you well
For all the wisdom of a lifetime
No one can ever tell

But whatever road you choose
Im right behind you, win or lose
Forever young.

Venting

I'm just venting today because I'm sure everyone around me is sick of listening to me complain.
I'm just so bothered by Hayden and his anxiety when it comes to being separated from me!
On the one hand, I'm so happy him and I have such a strong bond but on the other hand it's heartbreaking to live through.

Now, what 8 weeks back to work and he still cries EVERY morning. Every morning I drive to work feeling terrible and occasionally have a cry myself and then left to think about it all day.

This past weekend we visited Oma and Nono and Hayden thought I was going to leave him there and flipped out! I then tried putting him down for a nap and he screamed in a way that I have never heard before.

What do I do? No, seriously! What do I do? I have to work but this is ridiculous.

Now, on the up side I'm told he does settle down once I'm gone and has a good day (well that's when he's not catching yet another cold from some dirty child spreading germs all over him). ahem... can you tell I have issues????

AND... with all this being said, he is starting to become... how should I put this... "bitchy!". Can a mom say that about her child? Well I just did. I'm seven months pregnant and I just did. Love him but he had developed this attitude and voice in the last month and seems to protest whenever he can. Don't get me going on that chapter bc those who follow this will find me very scary.

Is this normal? Am I normal?

On the flip side of news, he no longer yells at me for putting him to bed. That phase came and went after a few weeks thank god.

Whoever said this mom thing was easy?

Ladies, the first 11 months were a picnic compared to this new challenge. However, he is 1 and I am 32..

I will win this battle!!!

Eventful week!

Well first I have start this blog off by saying "Happy 1st birthday Hayden!"  So hard to believe my little guy already turned one last Saturday.  Really, where did the year go?  Just looking back on some of my entries this last year, I had to laugh.  In such a short time he's changed so much, and I'm sure Marcus and I have changed as well.

Some good days some hard days.....  Small things make me laugh, like thinking back to that feeling after a long day at home with Hayden let's say a day with a tummy ache.  You sit and wait and wait for your husband to get home so you can hand the baby over so you can take a shower for the day (at 6:00pm).  My girlfriend summed it up when she said to me that mowing the lawn some days is a party, we'll take any break offered.

But then you have those other moments which come more and more frequent like right now. As I type Hayden crawls over to me in the midst of his play to give me a hug.

12 months together and I wouldn't change any of it.

This last weekend was busy! We moved Friday morning from a house built for two into a home built for a family... thank the lord! Just a few streets away which is great because we really love the area and have made a ton of friends.

We dropped Hayden off and Oma and Nonos place so could move, unpack, set up his bed fast! Sadly I did not get to wake him up myself on his first birthday but Oma and Nono sang him happy birthday.

The next morning we picked him up and I figured out pretty quickly after being told he had a rough night that he had his first ear infection.  Thanks to some homeopathic ear infection remedies we were able to sooth him and hold him over until Monday when we could see our dr.

A sick guy for a few days but he was well looked after between Marcus myself and nana.

Now here we are a week later all settled in and ready for some "down time" (whatever that is) before #2 (who still doesn't have a name) comes along!

Months of preparation of selling, buying and moving into a new home are now over!!!!

Feeding Time!

Bye Bye Baby

Well, six months pregs now and told to "tone down my carb and sugar intake" by my Dr. yesterday. My response? "You tone down your carb and sugar intake". Whatever, pregnancy is the new skinny.
I will take a picture like I did with Hayden to show the home stretch tummy.

Hayden is now off the baby food and on to "people food" as I call it. He pretty much will try anything but insists on feeding himself. Some of his favs
Yogurt
baby cookies
any fruit
toast with jam
pizza
pasta
cheese
*actually the list goes on and on.

He's also off of formula and on to homo milk.

Oma and Nono bought him a walker for his bday (an early bday gift) bc it seems he is just "steps" away from walking. Crawling is already old news.. now he shimmies along the furniture and pulls himself up on everything.

Bye bye baby, hello little boy.

P.S a month into daycare and he still hates his life when I drop him off. I of course have to keep a happy face for him as I'm walking out the door. So there I am smiling and waving as he screams and reaches for me. Will this come back to haunt me later when he's in therapy at 40 complaining about how his mother never acknowledged his grief? Jesus.... lol

Obviously Preggers

Now that I'm clearly pregnant and not mistaken for being a little chubby, I'm receiving all sorts of comments from strangers. The comments have nothing to do with being pregnant but everything to do with "How busy I'm going to be with two babies so close in age". I would like to take a moment and thank the masters of the obvious for reminding me.

May Events

Mother's Day, back to work, day care, new house.....
Marcus and I have been up to a lot!

Mother's Day: Was great. Saw both moms, we ate, we laughed we came we left.

Back to work: Is much easier than staying at home. I have a new respect for stay at home moms

Day care: A hard two weeks of Hayden crying and clinging to me, but as of yesterday he seems ok!

New House... Thank goodness. We sold our place and found another just five min away...luck was on our side!

Some mama day pics......

Daycare

We just dropped Hayden off at daycare and I have to say I'm not feeling too great right now.
This makes me never want to work again. If I wasn't pregnant right now I would pour myself a very stiff drink (yes at 8:30am). THIS is what nobody can warn you about when you have baby.

Out numbered

Well, well, well... today was interesting. I guess the best way to describe it actually, is comical.
Now it was just HILARIOUS to learn that I was preggers again...so soon, but after learning that Hayden is going to have a little brother I have to say it takes the cake. What's so funny? Me in a house full of boys, that's what's so funny. Even little lui is a boy. I must say that, I am quite happy for Hayden to have a little buddy. Hockey rinks and soccer fields here I come....
I can't wait to meet you now #2! Please don't make me as fat as your brother did. xox

Crawling Baby!

I don't know why I didn't think of this sooner! Hayden will crawl for food!
A trail of cherrios and he's all over the exercise...
Another exciting milestone!!!

#2 has been sitting funny all day and unfortunately I can't bribe this one to move
with cherrios. I tried eating the cheerios but that just made me full.

It's bath time! must run...

Hayden Hayden Hayden

Now that we are rapidly approaching Hayden's first birthday I have really gotten to know him and his funny little personality.
Hayden:
Smart
Stubborn
Gets bored easily
Likes to do it himself
Likes to be served
Enjoys his sleep
Enjoys attention
Loves the ladies
Loves cheerios
Hates cheddar cheese
Is strong
Is a real little boy
Happy
Complains easy
Not a crier
Likes his own voice
Loves Lui
Giggles easy
Likes to impress
Doesn't like to be smothered
Likes to be smothered
Doesn't like it when I leave the room (or daddy)
Likes to be where the action is
Likes to eat
Likes to be changed
Loves to be naked
Loves the bath
Loves Elmo, in the night garden and baby einstein
Says Da da, Ma ma, and can make a number of funny noises
Likes walks in the stroller (used to hate it)
Gets bored in the car
Loves the jolly jumper
Fake coughs for attention
Throws his bottle when he's done with it (just like how i used to).

#2.... Well all the number two has taught me at 4 months prego is that he/she does not like
Pizza. I find this funny because this is usually my favorite food. #2 made me feel very sick (but no pukes), very sleepy and craves more sweets. I think #2 is a girl... a few more weeks and we will know!

We love you both! xox

A lot to update!

Wow, the last few months of have been busy and I have a lot to update!
I guess I'll go in order of occurrence. First Marcus got a new job at Microsoft, which he loves!
He's pretty busy these days but like I said he enjoys it, which is great.

Then New Years Eve rolled around. I had been feeling really tired and a little "off" so I thought I should do a pregnancy test just to be safe seeing it was in fact New Years and alcohol would have definitely played into our plans. Well... I did the test and because there is a wait period I went about packing for the cottage. I forgot about the test until I returned to the bathroom to grab my toothbrush and noticed the test flashing "PREGNANT". Shock was an understatement but needless to say we were happy! So now, just over three months preggers I am feeling great! I'm 80% sure it's a girl this time because I feel very different this time around. Time will tell....

Then came Feb. Poor Katharine ended up in the hospital again and things took a turn for the worst. She was bumped to the top of the liver transplant list and just like that she was getting prepped for a transplant. As scary as the whole thing was for her and everyone involved, the surgery went great and she's home recovering day by day. She looks REALLY good and we are all thankful for the donor and the team who gave her a brand new life! One day at a time...

Hayden, Hayden, Hayden... My little guy is growing up so quickly! He's standing on his own (well holding himself up on his own) and trying so hard to crawl. He's turned from a baby into a little mini boy over night! He's sleeping through the night (as of this week) and is also getting up at a half decent time! I can't believe it's been 9 months since I slept! I'll enjoy it now because in 6 months it will start all over again!

We're trying to sell the house and will list it in a few weeks. Two babies in a beach semi may be a little tricky while Marcus is trying to work from home a few days a week. More to come on that...fingers crossed.

I think my family is due for a not so eventful down time soon!

Da-da-da-da

Hayden said "Dada" (well da-da-da-da-da)
but it was very distinct and was repeated right after we said it to him.
He's said it 100 times since, but randomly.  I'm not sure he has put two and two together
that Dada is actually just dada.

Now my question is, where is ma-ma-ma-ma-ma?

TT's

Poor little H has been "sick" this past week. I thought at first that he had caught a cold from one of his little friends, but I'm starting to think it's just a tooth coming in.  Poor guy... it's been a rough week for him.  I tried to get in there this morning to check around and I think I felt a tooth coming but Hayden won't let me get a good look! He can be a real pain sometimes! Stay tuned...

Li'l piece of history...

Today Hayden and I watched the inauguration of Barack Obama.
A little piece of history I was proud to witness and happy Hayden was around for it!
I realize he did not understand a thing, but one day he will look back and read this and know
that he was around for the inauguration of the first black president.  Baby steps, but the world
has come so far....

Christmas and New Years!

Well....
Another Christmas and New Years has come and gone.
Lot's of running around, lots of visiting,

lot's for food and lots of wine! Christmas Eve was spent at home with a little bailies, christmas carols and visitors. Christa, Jamie and Adrian all stopped by for a visit!

Christmas day the three of us (and lui of course) all headed over to my parents house for dinner. Frank, Claire and Adrian joined us this year for a combined family Christmas. We stayed the night and little Hayden was such a good boy! Poor little Isabella came down with a nasty cold so unfortunately Alex and Cesar and the babies couldn't make it from Chicago this year. I think it all worked out for the best though... there were a few nasty storms so the drive would have been miserable and dangerous. I think Alex attempted her first turkey, I wonder how it went!

We spent the week taking day trips here and there just to get out of the house. New Years was spent up at the cottage with Christa, Jamie, Julie and Eric and Sandy. It was pretty quiet but good to be away. I wasn't feeling too hot so I basically said "Happy New Year" and headed straight for the sack. Another year gone by and another new and exciting one begins....

Here's to the adventures of 2008 and here is to what's to come in 2009. Happy New Year!
